DONATIONS/SIGNS

Why are there no “Woodrow Wilcox for Griffith School Board” yard signs?

Woodrow Wilcox is trying to keep campaign expenses under $500 so that voters will know that he is not trying to “buy” the election.  He is using just flyers, door knob hangers, his website www.electwoodrowwilcox.com, and word of mouth.

Yard signs can cost up to $8 each.  If a candidate has 1,000 yard signs, then that candidate may have spent over $8,000 on a campaign for a job that pays only $300 per month.

If a candidate spends lots of money on a school board campaign, maybe the candidate is sincere and really wants to serve the public’s interests.  Or, maybe having a friend on the school board would help some supporters to get big contracts or other favors from the school board.

Griffith Public Schools has more property, more revenue, and more employees than any other entity in Griffith.  The school district gets and spends millions of dollars every year.  How it spends money affects everyone in Griffith in a big way.
